While transcribing this Violin Partita No. 1 BWV 1002 for guitar, my goal was to produce a guitar version which would achieve balance between comfort of playing and preservation of Bach’s musical intent. Partita No. 1 was particularly challenging to transcribe due to its scalar texture. Most movements consist of linear progressions that are at times difficult to execute on the guitar. Because of the busyness of the melodic lines, there is rarely an opportunity for the hands to breathe.

The result was to give particular attention to fingerings of both hands as well as other suggestive markings. I have added bass notes to highlight harmony and used available resources of guitar to make the work idiomatic for the instrument.
